The use of White Solder Mask PCB

2024-09-06

Electronics manufacturing has come a long way since the days of bulky, complex circuit boards. Thanks to advancements in technology, printed circuit boards (PCBs) are now smaller, more intricate, and more efficient than ever before. Among these advancements is the use of white solder mask PCBs, which have gained popularity in recent years.

White solder mask PCBs are coated with a layer of white material, usually liquid photoimageable solder mask (LPI), to protect and insulate the copper traces and surrounding areas from solder and other contaminants during the assembly process. In the past, green was the most popular color for solder mask PCBs, but white has become a more attractive option due to its sleek and modern aesthetic.

One of the biggest advantages of white solder mask PCBs is their ability to enhance the visibility of printed markings and texts on the board. With green PCBs, the white silkscreen text can sometimes be difficult to read, especially in poorly lit environments. White solder mask PCBs, on the other hand, provide a high-contrast background for the silkscreen, making it easier to identify components and trace connections.
