How do you remove oxidation from PCB?

Oxidation can be a pain for printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers. When copper on the board is exposed to moisture and air, it can form a layer of copper oxide on the surface that's difficult to remove and can impede the overall functionality of the PCB. But don't worry, there's a way to clean it up without damaging the PCB in the process.


First off, it's important to note that handling oxidized PCBs can be dangerous and requires the proper safety equipment, such as gloves and a respirator. Safety always comes first.


Begin by removing any loose debris or dirt from the board using a dry, clean cloth or a soft-bristled brush. Once you've removed the surface dirt, it's time to create a cleaning solution. This solution should consist of equal parts water and vinegar. Vinegar is an acidic substance that effectively dissolves copper oxide without harming the rest of the board.
